Blood Bank
Blood Bank in Panchkula
Safe blood is a cornerstone of modern medicine, enabling life-saving surgeries, trauma care, cancer treatment, and the management of haematological disorders. At Park Hospital, Panchkula, our Blood Bank is a fully equipped, NABH-accredited facility that ensures the availability of safe, compatible, high-quality blood and blood components for all clinical needs, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Our blood bank operates under strict quality management systems and regulatory compliance frameworks, with rigorous protocols governing every aspect of blood collection, processing, testing, storage, and issue. All donated blood units undergo comprehensive infectious disease screening, including testing for HIV, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, syphilis, and malaria using highly sensitive, automated chemiluminescence assays to ensure the safety of every unit issued for transfusion.
Blood component therapy, the practice of separating whole blood into its component parts and transfusing only the specific components a patient requires, is the cornerstone of our transfusion medicine approach. Our blood bank produces and stores packed red blood cells, fresh frozen plasma, platelets, cryoprecipitate, and single-donor platelets, enabling precise, evidence-based transfusion therapy that minimizes risk and maximizes clinical benefit for each patient.
Our blood bank team provides round-the-clock pre-transfusion testing, including ABO and Rh blood grouping, antibody screening, and full cross-matching to ensure that every unit of blood issued is fully compatible with the recipient. For patients with complex antibody profiles or rare blood group phenotypes, our team coordinates with national referral laboratories and blood services to source compatible units. Autologous blood collection and cell salvage programs are available for planned surgical procedures.
Voluntary blood donation is actively promoted through our blood donation drive program, working with corporates, educational institutions, and community organizations to encourage regular voluntary donation and maintain an adequate blood inventory. Our transfusion committee meets regularly to review transfusion practice, haemovigilance data, and any adverse transfusion events, ensuring continuous improvement in the safety and quality of our transfusion service.
