Internal Medicine & Geriatric- Park Hospital, Panchkula

Internal medicine is the broad, integrative discipline that forms the backbone of adult healthcare, the specialty to which patients with complex, multisystem, or undifferentiated illness turn for comprehensive assessment, accurate diagnosis, and coordinated management. At Park Hospital, Panchkula, our Department of Internal Medicine & Geriatrics brings together experienced physicians with the breadth of knowledge and the clinical acumen to manage the most complex adult medical conditions and the depth of compassion needed to care for our most senior and vulnerable patients.

Our internal medicine team manages a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions, including hypertension, diabetes, coronary artery disease, heart failure, chronic kidney disease, liver disease, infections, autoimmune conditions, and haematological disorders. Our physicians serve as the primary point of contact for patients with complex medical problems, coordinating care across multiple specialties, synthesizing diverse clinical information, and maintaining a clear overall management plan that serves the patient's best interests.

Acute medicine, the rapid assessment and management of patients presenting as medical emergencies, is a particular strength of our department. Our acute medicine team provides timely, expert evaluation of patients with acute chest pain, breathlessness, stroke, altered consciousness, acute abdominal pain, and other urgent medical presentations, ensuring that appropriate treatment is initiated without delay and that high-risk conditions are identified and managed swiftly.

Geriatric medicine, the subspecialty focused on the health and well-being of older adults, is an increasingly important and rapidly growing component of our department. Our geriatricians bring specialist expertise in the assessment and management of age-related conditions, including dementia, falls and mobility disorders, incontinence, polypharmacy, frailty, and delirium. Comprehensive geriatric assessment, a multidimensional evaluation of an older patient's medical, functional, cognitive, and social status, forms the foundation of our geriatric care model.

We work closely with physiotherapy, occupational therapy, social work, and community health services to support the independence and quality of life of our older patients, both during hospitalization and in the transition back to home.
