Nuclear Medicine in Panchkula

Nuclear medicine is a specialized medical discipline that uses small amounts of radioactive substances, known as radiopharmaceuticals, to diagnose and treat a wide range of diseases at the molecular and cellular level. It offers unique insights into the function of organs and tissues that cannot be obtained solely from conventional anatomical imaging. At Park Hospital, Panchkula, our Department of Nuclear Medicine provides cutting-edge diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine services, supporting our clinical teams with functional imaging of unparalleled sensitivity and specificity.

Our nuclear medicine department is equipped with state-of-the-art gamma cameras and SPECT-CT imaging systems, enabling high-quality functional imaging with anatomical localization via CT fusion. Our team of nuclear medicine physicians and technologists performs a comprehensive range of diagnostic studies, including myocardial perfusion imaging for coronary artery disease, bone scintigraphy for metastatic disease and orthopaedic conditions, thyroid scanning and uptake studies, renal scintigraphy, hepatobiliary imaging, lung ventilation-perfusion scanning, and sentinel lymph node mapping for cancer staging.

PET-CT (positron emission tomography combined with computed tomography) is one of the most powerful diagnostic tools in modern oncology, enabling whole-body cancer staging with exceptional sensitivity. Our nuclear medicine team provides PET-CT services for cancer staging, response assessment, and restaging, using fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) and a growing range of more targeted radiopharmaceuticals that enable the detection of specific molecular targets in cancer cells.

Therapeutic nuclear medicine is an equally important dimension of our program. Radioiodine therapy for thyroid cancer and hyperthyroidism, radiosynovectomy for inflammatory joint disease, and peptide receptor radionuclide therapy (PRRT) for neuroendocrine tumours represent the spectrum of our therapeutic capabilities. These treatments deliver targeted radiation directly to diseased tissue, maximizing therapeutic effect while minimizing exposure to surrounding healthy structures.

All nuclear medicine procedures are performed in full compliance with radiation safety regulations, with rigorous protocols to protect patients, staff, and the public.
