Critical Care in Panchkula

In medicine, the difference between life and death can sometimes be measured in minutes, and the quality of care delivered in the most critical moments can be the difference between life and death. At Park Hospital, Panchkula, our Department of Critical Care is staffed, equipped, and organized to deliver exactly that intensive, round-the-clock medical care for the most seriously ill patients, with the expertise, technology, and dedication that life-threatening conditions demand.

Our intensive care unit is a fully equipped, closed ICU staffed by dedicated intensivists (critical care specialists) who are available 24 hours a day. The closed ICU model in which all patient care is coordinated and led by the critical care team is associated with significantly better outcomes than models in which ICU care is managed by individual treating physicians. Our intensivists work in close collaboration with specialists across every department to ensure seamless, expert management of critically ill patients.

Our critical care program manages a wide range of life-threatening conditions, including respiratory failure requiring mechanical ventilation, septic shock, multi-organ dysfunction syndrome, post-operative critical illness, acute cardiac failure, acute liver and renal failure, severe neurological insults, polytrauma, and major haemorrhage. Advanced monitoring, including invasive arterial and central venous pressure monitoring, cardiac output monitoring, and continuous electroencephalography provides our team with real-time physiological data to guide management decisions.

Patient and family communication is a core element of our critical care philosophy. We understand that admission to an ICU is an extremely stressful experience for families, and our team is committed to regular, honest, compassionate communication about the patient's condition, treatment, and prognosis. Family support, spiritual care, and ethical guidance are all integrated into our critical care model.

Post-ICU rehabilitation, addressing the physical, cognitive, and psychological sequelae of critical illness, is an increasingly important area of focus. Our team works collaboratively with physiotherapy, nutrition, psychology, and specialist teams to support every patient's recovery beyond the ICU.
