When was the National Nutrition Week observed for the first time?

In 1975, the members of the American Dietetic Association (ADA), now called the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, started the National Nutrition Week in March to raise public awareness about good nutrition and also to promote the profession of dietitians.

In India, its history dates back to 1982 when the government launched a campaign to educate individuals about the significance of nutrition and a sustainable lifestyle.

The essence of National Nutrition Week 2021 is to feed smart right from the start.

A program has been launched by the central government to render accurate information to the people and raise awareness through seminars and workshops about how children and adults may benefit from a good, nutritional diet right from when they are born. There will be various programs like Bharat Poshan Premier Quiz, Good Food Talk Show, Healthy Khayega India, etc. to address the issue.

The current situation amidst the ongoing pandemic has made raising awareness about nutrition even more important. Since the beginning of 2020, experts around the world have been stressing on eating healthy for overall nourishment and immunity.
